Andrew and Brittany

Now that I have finally gotten my 5D Mark II I had to put it to good use. Over the weekend I did a lot of shooting. For this post I will talk about one shoot I did with Andrew and Brittany in my living room using three speedlights, my micro mini, a shoot through umbrella and a reflective umbrella. I also got to use my new white paper back drop.

Inspired by what has become one of my favorite sites, http://www.squeezethelime.com/, I was happy to be “capturing the romance” but it was really quite a silly shoot.

The above right picture is my favorite from the shoot. And I think it was important to not try and pose everything and just work on getting them to interact naturally.

I used only speedlights, two Nikon sb-24s and one Canon 580 EX II speedlight. I used the white fabric on the micro mini for the left side and a shoot through umbrella on the right with the sb-24s. The 580 was shot into a reflective umbrella high and slightly camera left.

There will be plenty more photos from all this past weekends shooting but I just got through editing these photos. Look for more in the coming days.

Wow, lovely shots. I’d love to see a diagram of your setup.

You got the Canon 5D MII? I’ve heard a lot of people have had trouble finding one!

    Congrats.

Yea finding one was a pain. I had one on order for over a month and just got fed up and started calling every store in the US. Amazon has marked up the canon 5D body almost $1000 over retail due to the demand. I found it at retail though which was nice. It is an amazing camera. As for the set up it is a pretty simple 3 light setup. on the left I am bouncing flash from my sunbounce micro mini (white fabric), on the right a white shoot through both of those were mid height. High front and slightly left of the camera was a reflective umbrella. I was using a white paper backdrop and the alien bees cyber syncs. If you want any other details let me know.
